The NonJudgemental Therapist, Melanie Williams, is a licensed therapist LCSW-C, a Behavioral Health Administrator, and a writer. She believes that everyone should have education to care for their mental health, and that therapy should be used as a tool to empower rather than as a weapon.
Melanie has had the privilege of being a therapist for hundreds of adults, children, and families in Baltimore and surrounding areas for nearly 15 years. Most recently, she was the Supervisor of Behavioral Health for MedStar Harbor Hospital where she developed and oversaw the hospital’s Outpatient Mental Health Program, as well as their Intensive Outpatient Program, and Partial-Hospitalization. She also was an Administrator for MedStar’s 5 Behavioral Health hospital system, led professional development, and created initiatives such as the hospital’s observation of World Mental Health Day. She’s experienced in community mental health and prior to joining MedStar, she provided therapy through Catholic Charities and Keypoint Health, some of the largest service providers in Maryland. She’s also experienced in residential treatment and has provided in-school therapy for local public school systems. She’s certified in trauma therapy and is trained in many other forms of therapy as well. She conducts individual therapy, couples therapy, family & group therapy. She’s a licensed clinical supervisor for other therapists and she’s led mental health trainings. Her mental health expertise has been recognized in the media, and her advice has been featured on platforms such as TIME, Authority Magazine, Newsweek, and HealthCentral. She’s a regular contributing writer for Casebook, which provides services for human service professionals and non-profit organizations across the US. She was also selected as a Speaker for the 2024 TraumaWise Parenting Summit for her presentation on parental guilt. She’s currently in the publishing process for her first book entitled, “For Parents Who Have Hurt Their Children and Want to Make it Better,” an educational trauma-informed guide that helps to repair relationships between parents and their adult children.
Melanie is a proud native of Baltimore City. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Amherst College.
